About the author

Dr. Wu Qiusheng is currently working in the Department of Geography, University of Tennessee; from 2015 to 2019, he was an assistant professor at the State University of New York at Binghamton.Wu Qiusheng graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University with a bachelor's degree and a master's and doctorate degrees in geography from the University of Cincinnati.His research focuses on remote sensing big data, cloud computing, and the development of open source software.So far, more than 60 SCI papers have been published, and its research has been funded by the US Department of Defense, the Department of Agriculture, and NASA.Several open source software packages released by Dr. Wu have been widely used by domestic and foreign researchers, including geemap, leafmap, geospatial, lidar, whitebox, etc.It publishes over 300 video tutorials on geographic data analysis on YouTube.As of the end of July 2022, these video tutorials have garnered over 16,000 subscriptions and over 580,000 views.Dr. Wu has won several awards, including being selected by the 2020 Geographic Information Developers Conference (WGDC) as one of the first Top Ten Global Frontier Technology Young Scientists, and becoming an officially certified GEE development expert by Google in June 2022 (Google Developer Expert [GDE]) (only 26 worldwide).
