DSPE-PEG Silane is a surface-active phospholipid PEG derivative that can be used to modify the surfaces of glass, silica particles, and many other materials.DSPE (1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) is an 18-carbon saturated phospholipid with high hydrophobicity.
PEG linker bridges DSPE and silane groups to provide better hydrophilicity, flexible linker structure, and enhanced reactivity.The silane groups on this molecule are highly reactive towards glass, silica and many other materials.The reaction between alkoxysilanes and surface hydroxyl groups allows covalent attachment of phospholipid PEGs to the surfaces of these modified materials.The non-specific binding to the surface of the PEG-modified material was significantly reduced.
Phospholipid PEG silanes can be used to modify proteins, peptides and other materials with reactive groups.Phospholipid (-DSPE) conjugated polyethylene glycol is a combination of phospholipid and polyethylene glycol with hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties.PEG modification can improve solubility and stability and reduce the immunogenicity of proteins and peptides.It also inhibits the non-specific binding of charged molecules on the modified surface.
