Most people don't realize that there is always an abundance of energy around us.We are bombarded with energy waves all day long.Radio and TV towers, satellites orbiting the earth, and even cell phone antennas are all constantly transmitting energy.What if there was a way we could harvest the energy being transmitted?If it were possible to harvest and store this energy, we could potentially use it to power other circuits.In the case of mobile phones, this energy can be used to recharge a depleted battery.The potential exists for mobile phones and more sophisticated devices such as pocket organizers, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and laptops.

Energy Harvesting Elements are the process by which the energy present in the environment is captured and converted into electricity.In recent years, it has become a prominent area of research across multiple disciplines.Various energy collection methods such as solar energy, mechanical energy, radio frequency energy, thermal energy, electromagnetic energy, biochemical energy, and radioactive energy have been developed and utilized.
Energy harvesting elements typically operate at power levels of milliwatts or even microwatts.Almost all energy harvesting schemes require power conditioning at various stages and intermediate batteries or capacitors that store energy harvested from the environment.
When we talk about RF harvesting, we're not talking about energy sources specifically designed to power wireless devices.Instead, we're talking about the energy we can harvest from public service.In cities and densely populated areas, there are numerous sources of RF, such as radio and television stations, mobile phone base stations, and wireless networks.It is possible for people to harvest some of their energy and convert it into useful energy.
Radio waves are part of the electromagneticand electrical components.They carry information by changing the combination of amplitude, frequency and phase of waves within a frequency band.When in contact with a conductor (such as an antenna), electromagnetic radiation creates an electric current on the surface of the conductor, which is known as the skin effect.
Communication equipment utilizes a different frequency spectrum from 10 kHz to 30 kHz, using antennas to transmit and/or receive data.For 2.4 GHz and 900mhz frequencies, the maximum theoretical power of the RF energy harvesting element is 7.0 μW and 1.0 μW
