Consumption-based pricing is also gaining popularity in HCIS, providing IT leaders with purchasing options when planning to purchase HCIS solutions.Hyperconverged software vendors are pushing sales teams to sell subscription-based hyperconverged software licenses.This further supports the trend of end users decoupling hardware procurement from HCI software.

By 2026, 30% of HCIS will be deployed at the edge, according to Gartner.The addition of small cluster products has created a new market for HCIS in edge scenarios.The edge use case is one of four primary use cases identified by Gartner as a key capability for hyperconverged infrastructure software.Gartner believes that adoption of edge use cases will rise steadily, and by 2026, it will account for about 30%.Notably, these single-node and dual-node devices have lower average selling prices compared to standard prices.Smaller-scale vendors, including those of pure-play HCI software, are successfully establishing the edge as a target market.
