Abstract

With the exception of Hermitian and Laguerre Gaussian beam modes, the wave equationThere is also a third strictly orthogonal solution system for the axial case - the so-called Ince-Gaussian beam.These solutions are defined in elliptic coordinates and allow transformation between Hermitian and Laguerre Gaussian beam modes through elliptic parameters.These modes have advantages in optical tweezers and particle trapping applications.This application note introduces the Ince-Gaussian light source in Virtuallab Fusion and shows how to define a single mode.
